Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect In Stolen Vehicle After High Speed Chase

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says on October 21, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy observed a vehicle, which had earlier been reported stolen from a truck stop in St. Martin Parish, traveling north on LA Highway 675. As the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect driver fled north on LA Highway 675, entering US 90 and driving west at speeds in excess of 90 MPH. The suspect crossed the median of US 90 into the opposing east bound lanes, then crossed over onto the US 90 South Service Rd. before turning south onto South Freetown Rd. The suspect then drove off of the roadway and abandoned the vehicle behind residences in the 6500 block of South Freetown Rd. Following a short area search, the suspect, identified as Jeremiah Moore of Shreveport, LA, was apprehended in a nearby sugar cane field by deputies.

Jeremiah Moore was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges:

LA RS 14:69 Illegal possession of stolen things
LA RS 14:108.1B Flight from an officer – aggravated
LA RS 14:96 Aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce
LA RS 32.415 Operating vehicle while license is suspended
LA RS 15.572.2 Parole violation

Bond has not been set at this time.
