Houma Twin Span Bridge Back in Service After Barge Incident

The Houma Twin Span Bridge has been reopened to the public after being temporarily shut down due to a barge collision. The local police department has confirmed that the bridge is now safe for regular use, following a comprehensive inspection by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.).

On November 3, 2023, the bridge experienced a barge impact which raised concerns about its structural integrity. As a safety precaution, authorities closed the bridge temporarily to evaluate the damage and ensure public safety.

After conducting a thorough examination and making the required repairs, the D.O.T. has given the green light for the bridge to resume normal operations. Residents and commuters can now return to their daily routines, with the Houma Twin Span Bridge fully functioning once again.
