Honda is issuing a recall for their EU7000is portable generators due to a potential fire hazard. The issue arises from the fuel filler cap not sealing properly which can cause fuel or fuel vapor leaks. This poses a significant fire hazard for users.
The recall was announced on August 3, 2023, and affects approximately 250 units of the generator. The affected models are red and gray in color, measuring roughly 33 inches long, 28 inches wide, and 28 inches high. They bear the model number EU7000is printed on the side of the device. Serial numbers included in this recall range from EEJD-1364963 to EEJD-1366026 which can be located inside the access door.
Honda encourages consumers who own these recalled generators to discontinue use immediately and contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer to schedule a free repair. The company is reaching out to all identified purchasers directly in order to address this issue.
Fortunately, no incidents or injuries have been reported so far. These portable generators were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Amazon.com, and authorized Honda power equipment dealers nationwide between December 2022 and May 2023 for around $6,000 each. The devices were manufactured by American Honda Motor Co. Inc., located in Torrance, California and made in India.
The recall carries the number 23-251. Customers can contact American Honda Motor at 888-888-3139 from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday or visit https://crmshonda.my.salesforce-sites.com/service/pew2c for email support or www.powerequipment.honda.com and click on “Recalls and Updates” at the bottom of the page for more information on this matter.
