More details have been released regarding a Saturday afternoon hit-and-run in Patterson that left a pedestrian injured.

Patterson Police Chief Garret Grogan tells KQKI News that on Saturday afternoon at 2:12 pm, the Patterson Police Department, Patterson Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to the 900 block of Tall Timber Drive regarding a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.

Grogan said that a black male subject, 59-year-old Deric Jenkins, was involved in an altercation outside of a home on Tall Timber Drive and allegedly pulled a gun on an adult male. At that time, the subject’s estranged wife exited the home and he then reportedly backed into the woman with a 2018 red Mitsubishi Eclipse and left the scene. The victim sustained head injuries and was transported to a Lafayette hospital via Acadian Air Med. The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.

The gun was recovered at the scene, although Jennings remains at large. He is being sought by officers with Patterson Police Departments.

The incident remains under investigation by the Patterson Police Department and we will release more information as it becomes available.
