Governor-Elect Jeff Landry’s Inauguration Rescheduled to Sunday Due to Weather

The transition team of Governor-Elect Jeff Landry has announced that his inauguration that was scheduled to be held on Monday, has been moved to Sunday at 4:30 pm, due to the forecast of inclement weather. The ceremony will be held on the steps of the State Capitol.

The inauguration will be broadcast statewide on Louisiana Public Broadcasting and on the LPB YouTube channel. 

Although Landry will be sworn-in on Sunday, according to the state constitution, he will officially become Governor at noon on Monday, along with the other officials who were elected to  statewide offices.

The Inaugural Ball will be held as scheduled on Monday at 7:00 pm at the Raising Cane’s River Center in downtown Baton Rouge.

The transition team has released the following information to those who plan to attend the inauguration and ball.

Street Closures

Street closures will occur ONLY for the inaugural ceremony located at the capitol. Those streets include:

•    North 4th Street (From North Street to Spanish Town Road)

•    Spanish Town Road (From North 3rd Street to North 5th Street)

4200+ Free, first come first serve, Parking Spots for the Inaugural Ceremony will be available in Capitol District area and along North Street at the Parking Garages listed below:

Galvez Parking Garage: 504 North Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802

LaSalle Parking Garage: 521 Third Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802

Welcome Center Parking Garage: 101 North Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802 (Dedicated Press/Media Parking Available)

Please Note: That those with disabilities are encouraged to park at the Welcome Center as transportation to ceremony will be provided.

Insurance Garage is not open to the public and patrons without a parking pass will be cited or towed at owners expense.

Department of Transportation & Development has marked each public parking facility listed above.

Additional For Purchase Parking can be sought from the City of Baton at the following locations downtown Baton Rouge:

111 Laurel Street                       149 St. Ferdinand Street            208 Fourth Street

245 Convention Street               350 Convention Street               521 Laurel Street

201 Laurel Street                       748 Main Street                        300 N. Fourth Street

Guests to the ceremony are encouraged to arrive with time to proceed through security checkpoints at their respective assigned seating areas and to be seated 15 minutes prior to start of the ceremony.

•    9:30 AM: Time Security Checkpoints and access to assigned seated areas will open to the public

River Center Parking & Additional Information

Parking is available on event-by-event basis on River Road. Parking is also available in the parking garages located on St. Louis Street. There is a fee to park in these garages for most events and they accept CARD ONLY.

From the West: Take I-10 East to Baton Rouge and take exit 155A for LA-30/Nicholson Dr. Keep right, follow signs for LA-30/Nicholson Dr. Continue onto St. Louis St. The West Parking Garage will be on your left and the East Parking Garage will be on your right.

From the East: Take I-10 West to Baton Rouge and use the right lane to keep right at the fork, continue on I-110 N and follow signs for Downtown/Metro Airport. Take exit 1A for Government St./LA-73 S. Turn left onto Government St. and turn right onto St. Louis St. The West Parking Garage will be on your left and the East Parking Garage will be on your right.

Please note: You will not be able to turn left into the West Parking Garage due to barriers on the median. To park in the West Parking Garage, you will need to be going South on St. Louis Street.

As part of a continued effort to improve the guest experience, reduce lines, and increase safety by limiting the exchange of money, the Raising Cane’s River Center is a cashless venue.

The cash-free model allows the arena to operate more efficiently by removing cash handling duties and speeding up transaction times. This reduces long lines and gets arena guests back to the action faster while providing our service teams the opportunity to focus more on the guest experience.

ALL AREAS within the venue will now only accept cashless payments. This includes concession stands, vendor stands and ticketing counters.

All major digital forms of payment are accepted, including Debit Cards, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Cash payments will not be accepted.

Accessibility:

For those with disabilities: The recommended drop off point for arena events is 275 South River Road near the box office at portal-A entrance.

Emergency warning systems are equipped with both audible and visual strobe alarms.

Elevators are located in the East and West lobbies of the Exhibition Hall, the South Lobby of the Grand Ballroom and in the North Concourse of the Arena. Each elevator is equipped to accommodate persons needing assistance.

Service animals that are trained or are in training are allowed to enter the Raising Cane’s River Center . A guest whose service animal poses a threat to the safety of other Raising Cane’s River Center guests and/or employees may be asked to escort the animal off the premises.

All service animals must remain on a leash or harness at all times. Guests who need to escort a service animal to the animal relief area are allowed to re-enter the facility. All guests are to notify the Guest Services Manager prior to exiting the facility to ensure re-entry. The animal relief area is located on the Oak Street side of the facility.

Any staff member will assist you in getting to the first aid station.

All restrooms are equipped with accessible facilities; including sinks, hand towel dispensers, hand sanitizer dispensers, urinals and toilet stalls. Family restroom is located in the Arena lower concourse, between Portal A and D.

The Raising Cane’s River Center staff is trained in the proper procedures for emergency situations. In the event of an evacuation, event staff will assist and direct guests with disabilities to exit routes.
