NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Tori Lee Wesley, 47, and Amber Lynn Burgess, 31, both of 4021 Highway 308 in Napoleonville, following a Sunday afternoon incident that escalated from a traffic stop into a foot pursuit and multiple felony charges.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail conducted a stop on a vehicle after observing a traffic violation on LA 1 south of Napoleonville. The vehicle was registered to Tori Lee Wesley, whom the deputy knew to be a fugitive. Upon making contact, the deputy recognized Wesley in the passenger seat.
As the vehicle approached the end of the roadway, Wesley fled on foot, prompting a lengthy chase before he was apprehended. The driver, Amber Lynn Burgess, was detained by assisting deputies. A consent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large-caliber firearm, which had been reported stolen to the Alexandria Police Department. Wesley, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, also had a permanent protective order barring him from possessing a weapon. Two juveniles were inside the vehicle during the incident.
Following the investigation, Tori Lee Wesley was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Cruelty to Juveniles – 2 Counts
Flight from an Officer
Resisting an Officer
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Domestic Abuse Battery
Violation of a Protective Order
Fugitive – Rapides Parish (Home Invasion; Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence; Domestic Abuse Battery; Traffic Offenses)
Wesley remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Amber Lynn Burgess was booked on charges of:
Cruelty to Juvenile – 2 Counts
Harboring a Fugitive
Turning Movement and Required Signals
Failure to Utilize Child Passenger Restraint System – 2 Counts
Flight from an Officer
Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Burgess also remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
