On Friday, January 14, 2022, at approximately 10:54PM, Officers of the Uniformed Patrol Division responded to the 700 block of Mississippi Street in reference to a shooting where two female victims were injured. One female went to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital. Another female was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is stable but in critical condition.
Investigators with the New Iberia Police Department have an Arrest Warrant for Leroy Lenwood Jr. on the following charges:
2 Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
2 Counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
3 Counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
1 Counts of Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
