FRANKLIN, La. – The City of Franklin has been awarded a $400,000 Love Louisiana Outdoors grant, which will be used for improving and adding playground equipment in the city’s four parks. Tammy Rogers, the grant administrator, announced that the final approval came from the Louisiana Office of Community Development. The city accepted the lowest bid from Hahn Enterprises and has ordered new playground equipment.
In the upcoming months, pre-construction activities will commence to remove older park structures and replace them with new ones. The complete upgrade process is expected to last a few months. While improvements are made throughout Franklin, the city respectfully asks for residents’ patience.
Mayor Eugene Foulcard embraced these quality of life initiatives as part of Franklin’s Revitalization Movement, emphasizing that projects have been ongoing across the entire city, beyond just Main Street. Parks such as Franklin City Park, Broussard-Harris Park, and Caffery Park will undergo pre-construction work to replace old playground structures, benches, and BBQ pits with brand-new additions. Pecot Park will also receive new structures, benches and BBQ pits that complement its existing well-maintained facilities. Furthermore, several of these upgrades will feature handicap-accessible equipment.
