Funeral services celebrating the life of Frances Thor D’Avy Frederick will be held Monday, July 14, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin during a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Michael DeBlanc will be the Celebrant for the Mass with Father Bill Melancon and Deacon Russell Hayes concelebrating.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin beginning at 10:00 AM, with the Holy Rosary being prayed 11:30 AM and dismissal to the church at 1:30 PM.
Thor, as she was known to all, was born in Opelousas on October 2, 1943, and was the only child born to the union of Gladstone and Viola D’Avy. She passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 81. She was well known for her many years of service at Geiling Insurance in Baldwin and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her two sons, Douglas M. Frederick II and Eric J. Frederick; four grandchildren, Meghan Louviere and her husband Jake, Hallie Frederick, Alyssa Fonseca and her husband Cullen, and Zachary Frederick; two great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Rosalind Frederick; special friend, Mark Loveless; Thor’s angel and caregiver, Jennifer Savoie; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Douglas M. “Doug” Frederick; their son, Philip Grant Frederick; her parents, Gladstone D’Avy and Viola Leger D’Avy; and her dear friend, Paula Loveless.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to her caregiver, Jennifer Savoie; and to the staff of Hope Hospice, especially her nurse, Melody Coleman, for their loving and compassionate care given to Thor in her time of need.
