The Bayou Vista and Patterson Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a brush fire near the levee behind Cotten Road in Patterson on Friday afternoon. Firefighters attempted to gain access to the fire by boat. However, they learned  the source was overgrowth which was burning on hunting property.

According to Patterson Fire Chief Scott Hutton, there is no threat to the public and the fire is expected to burn out on its own. However, two firefighters will remain on-scene to monitor the fire.
