In St. Mary Parish, a car accident on Louisiana Highway 87 near Justa Street led to the death of 54-year-old Robbin Landry Vining from Charenton. The incident took place around 7:30 AM on September 30, 2023, and was reported to the Louisiana State Police Troop I.
According to the initial investigation, Vining had been driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla northbound on LA 87 when the car veered off the road, struck a ditch, and overturned. The cause of the accident remains uncertain.
Vining, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Coroner’s Office. Meanwhile, a properly restrained passenger was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Authorities are yet to determine if impairment played a role in the crash. A toxicology sample has been collected for further analysis as the investigation continues.
