A Morgan City home is likely a total loss as a result of a Sunday afternoon fire. Morgan City Fire Chief Alvin Cockerham told KQKI News that firefighters were dispatched to the home located in Marquis Manor Subdivision at approximately 2:00 pm. He said it appears the fire started in the garage, which spread into the attic and the rest of the home.
Cockerham said his department received mutual aid from area fire departments including Amelia, Bayou Vista, Berwick, Patterson and Stephensville. Firefighers remained on scene until at least 6:00 pm on Sunday evening. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
