Early Voting Begins for Morgan City Sales Tax Proposition to Provide Pay Raises for Firefighters and Police Officers

Early voting for the April 29th election begins on Saturday for voters in Morgan City. If approved, a 1/2 cent sales tax would go into effect on July 1, 2023 and would fund salary increases for Morgan City firefighters and police officers, as well as pay the costs of training new personnel of the Morgan City Fire and Police Departments. The proposed tax would generate an estimated $1.3 million per year.

Early voting starts on Saturday, April 15 and will be held daily through Saturday, April 22, except Sunday

Voters can early vote at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin or at the St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voters Annex Office located at 301 Third Street in Morgan City, from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, during Early Voting Only.
Election Date is scheduled for Saturday, April 29. Voters will vote at their designated precinct in Morgan City only from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.
