UPDATE: Area Cleared and No Explosives Located- Original: Clements Street Area In Morgan City Evacuated as Multiple Agencies Conduct Investigation

UPDATE 12/29/23:  On December 28, 2023, the Morgan City Police Department received information of possible explosive material in the area of Clements St. in Morgan City.

At around 11am, Investigators from the MCPD with assistance from the St. Mary Parish Sherriff’s Office, La. State Police, and Alcohol Firearms & Tobacco (ATF) responded to the scene. Residents of Clements St. were evacuated as a precautionary measure while investigators conducted a search of the property.

Investigators were unable to locate any type of explosive material on the property and rendered the area safe for residents to return back to their homes.
Chief Adams thanks the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, La. State Police, and the ATF for their assistance with this matter.

UPDATE: The area was cleared, and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

The Morgan City Police Department has announced that they are conducting an investigation with multiple agencies in the area of Clements Street. Residents in the area have been evacuated.  They will be allowed to return once the area is deemed safe.  The department says that it’s an ongoing investigation and more information will be released later.
