The City of Franklin has issued a Boil Water Advisory for its residents. The city announced that it has experienced problems with its water supply system. Several breaks have been experienced on Monday due to the cold weather. Because of these problems, the city said that water produced by the water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.

Therefore, as a precaution, as Boil Water Advisory is effective immediately. This advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by the Franklin Water System. It is recommended that all consumers boil their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth, or using food preparation including rinsing of foods.

Customers are recommended to boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.

The Franklin Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from the water supply system has shown its water to be safe.
