A man’s body discovered in the Bayou Teche Friday, July 28, 2023, was identified as Terry Babin, a 64-year-old resident of Jeanerette, according to Sheriff Blaise Smith. A deputy responded to a report concerning an empty boat in the Bayou Teche at 12:30 pm. The deputy, joined by a relative of the boat owner, subsequently found Babin’s body near his vessel which was close to the shore. Investigators did not find any signs of foul play upon examining the scene.
