Bayou L’Ourse Man Arrested On Home Invasion Charge

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Herbert J. Fontenot, Jr., 49, of 179 Country Village, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on felony charges arising from a domestic incident at the aforementioned address on December 23, 2021.

Deputies were dispatched to the family home and made contact with the victim of the complaint. At that time, deputies became aware that the suspect Herbert J. Fontenot, Jr. had been served a protective order.

Mr. Fontenot at some point returned to the residence and made forced entry into the home and became very aggressive. Fontenot attempted to arm himself. Fontenot, at the time, made threats towards other individuals as well as the complainant’s children.

At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies applied for and were granted warrants for the arrest of Herbert J. Fontenot, Jr.

The suspect left the area following the incident. Herbert J. Fontenot, Jr. was arrested in the State of Texas on April 14, 2022.

Herbert Joseph Fontenot, Jr. was returned to Louisiana on Thursday. Fontenot was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

  • Home Invasion
  • Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault Child Endangerment Law
  • Violation of Protective Orders (8 Counts)

Herbert Joseph Fontenot, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
