Franklin, LA—June 23, 2023—Bayou Bend Health System is excited to announce that the brand-new Wellness Center will host an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 7, 2023, with public tours from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM and a ribbon cutting at 10:00 AM. The Fitness Center, located inside the Wellness Center, will officially open to the public for use on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 7:00 AM. “For more than 50 years, our hospital has served the healthcare needs of western St. Mary Parish. As we transition from illness to wellness, our goal is to encourage a healthier community through education, space to exercise, professional instruction, and healthy nutrition. There are so many different facets of wellness, and with the Wellness Center, we are offering a totally encompassing product to the community,” stated Stephanie Guidry, CEO of Bayou Bend Health System.
“There is no greater investment that we can make in our community than increased access to Wellness and Healthcare. The Wellness Center at Bayou Bend will regionally offer the kind of Medical Wellness only available in larger cities,” said Senator Bret Allain, who played an integral role in bringing the facility to St. Mary Parish.
The nearly 60,000-square-foot Wellness Center is located at 1029 Northwest Boulevard in Franklin, Louisiana, next to the Bayou Bend Medical Office Building. Nearly 20,000 annual outpatient visits are expected at this state-of-the-art facility which will now be home to existingservices including Orthopedics (OrthoLA), Cardiology (Dr. Brent Rochon), and Outpatient Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies. New services offered within the facility include Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Senior Intensive Outpatient Behavioral Health.
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, led by Dr. Brent Rochon, assists cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or respiratory patients in restoring and maintaining optimal health through exercise conditioning, strength training, diet education, and emotional support. The Senior Intensive Outpatient Behavioral Health program, managed by Signet Heath, provides treatment for seniors experiencing depression, anxiety, and other behavioral symptoms. Signet Health is an industry leader in Behavioral Health Management Services due to their expertise and commitment to advocating for the vulnerable.
Also located inside the Wellness Center is the much-anticipated 20,000-square-foot Fitness Center featuring high-tech Technogym® fitness equipment, an indoor walking track, an indoor lap pool, an indoor exercise/therapy pool, and exercise studios for cycling, group exercise, and mind/body/focus. Additionally, the Kids Club structured children’s program will tend to members’ children (ages 6 months to 12 years) while the members work out. This facility is managed and staffed by Cooper Wellness Strategies, a Cooper Aerobics Company. The wellness programming and facility management are based on Cooper’s 50+ years as the leading authority on health and wellness. The Wellness Center also houses a 6,800-square-foot banquet room featuring digital screens and projectors that will be available for rent to host weddings, conferences, parties, Mardi Gras balls, and other events. A Café serving coffee, smoothies, healthy drinks, and snacks during the day will be located just outside the banquet room and will have the capacity to double as a bar during events hosted there.
The Wellness Center is the first in St. Mary Parish to integrate physical and behavioral health services. This is an example of health reform taking shape on the local level by improving access to care and putting the community at the forefront. It is a shining example of Bayou Bend Heath System’s long-term commitment to the wellness of the people whom it serves.
