The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens about a particular type of text message being sent to phones after receiving concerns from citizens in the community.

They are advising people if a text message is received displaying, “Can I call you” do not respond. The department is raising awareness to everyone including children. Parents are asked to make sure their child understands they should not respond to this, or any, type of message from an unknown origin.

If you have any concerns, you can contact your local law enforcement agency.
