NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced that he has acquired a compact rapid deployable unit. It is a fully self-sufficient First Net Band – 14 cell on wheels trailer.
It generates an area of First Net Cellular and wi-fi coverage for first responders during time of disaster such as hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.
The unit can be deployed by a single person within minutes if needed at a disaster location.
“The equipment is vital to our department in times of disaster. In the past, when power goes out, we lose all of our ability to communicate from base to unit or unit to unit, Falcon said. This will enable us to get to the needs of particular areas through enhanced disaster communications.”
The Department obtained the unit on loan from AT&T First Net in partnership with Rescue 42.
Although the equipment is valued at $70,000 retail, the arrangement came at no cost to the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Falcon thanked AT&T First Net and Rescue 42 for their assistance in securing this equipment for our use.
