Two familiar faces in St. Mary Parish were recognized as Bayou Region Champions at COLAB’s recent Bayou Business Summit that was held at Cypress Bayou Casino in Charenton.
State Senator Robert Allain has been named the inaugural recipient of COLAB’s Bayou Region Legislative Champion Award. The award recognizes an elected official who consistently advocates for the Bayou Region, its industries, businesses and residents.
A Franklin native, Allain represents District 21 in the Louisiana Senate, the same seat previously held by his father, Bret Allain. He is also a partner in his family’s sugarcane operation, Adeline Planting Company, and founded Integrity Marine, a marine company specializing in dredging, debris removal, demolition and coastal restoration.
COLAB officials said Allain’s agricultural and maritime experience has shaped his understanding of the region and its needs. Since taking office, he has supported COLAB and promoted the industries and organizations that help drive the Bayou Region’s economy.
Roger Beaudean was also named the inaugural recipient of COLAB’s Bayou Region Champion Award, recognizing his contributions to the maritime industry and the Bayou Region.
Beaudean has more than 48 years of transportation experience and has held leadership roles with LEEVAC Marine, Hornbeck Offshore Services and Cenac Offshore. He currently leads Marquis Management Group.
He was also instrumental in establishing the Atchafalaya Intracoastal Coalition, a nonprofit addressing issues affecting ports, waterways, infrastructure and the maritime industry.
COLAB is the official regional economic development organization for the parishes of Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary and Terrebonne.
