Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested two more juveniles on terrorizing charges following separate threats involving Evergreen Junior High School.
Sheriff Tim Soignet said detectives arrested a 13-year-old female student after investigating comments she allegedly made while the school was on lockdown Friday, September 25. According to the sheriff’s office, she admitted during an interview to making comments about “finishing the job.” She was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Justice Complex late Friday night.
In a separate investigation Sunday, deputies arrested a 12-year-old boy after receiving reports that he had threatened to shoot people at Evergreen Junior High in a live video on social media. Deputies said the boy admitted to making the video. He does not attend Evergreen Junior High. He was booked into the juvenile facility late Sunday evening.
The sheriff’s office said investigators have not seen the video and are working with the social media platform to obtain a copy. The identities of both juveniles are being withheld.
“These threats are serious, and we will respond to every one of them with the urgency our students, families and school employees deserve,” Soignet said. “Anyone who makes threats against a school should expect to be identified, investigated and held accountable.”
Both investigations remain active. The charges are allegations; the juveniles are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
