A Houma man has been charged with second-degree murder following an investigation into the overdose death of a Texas man earlier this year, according to the Houma Police Department.
Officers responded to a medical emergency in the 7400 block of West Park Avenue on January 9. They found 29-year-old Ruben Rocha of Hockley, Texas, suffering from an apparent drug overdose. Rocha died despite lifesaving efforts.
Police say narcotics detectives identified Christopher Michael Mosely Jr. during the investigation. Detectives allege Mosely supplied the drugs that contributed to Rocha’s death.
Mosely was arrested August 10. In addition to second-degree murder, he faces charges that include distribution of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and firearm and drug possession offenses.
Police say he remains at the Terrebonne Parish Correctional Center on a $1.15 million bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and police say additional arrests are possible.
