The New Iberia Police Department has announced temporary office closures and traffic changes for Thursday, August 6, as officers and staff attend funeral services for Chief Todd D’Albor.
The department’s offices will be closed for the day. From 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office will handle all calls for service within the City of New Iberia.
St. Peter Street will close between Jefferson Street and Center Street beginning at 10:30 a.m. Cross streets in the area—including French, Iberia, Julia and Weeks streets—will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic. Unauthorized vehicles will not be permitted on St. Peter Street.
The funeral procession is expected to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. It will leave Evangeline Funeral Home, located at 314 East St. Peter Street, travel along St. Peter Street to Prairie Street and then continue to Main Street.
Members of the public who wish to honor Chief D’Albor are invited to line Main Street between Prairie Avenue and Corinne Street to show support for his family and the men and women of the New Iberia Police Department.
