According to the Jeanerette Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:49 p.m. on May 19 after receiving a 911 call about a man reportedly standing near the railroad crossing on St. Nicholas Street firing shots.
Responding officers, along with a deputy from the Jeanerette City Marshal’s Office, arrived at the scene within approximately two minutes and encountered the suspect, who was allegedly armed with two handguns.
