ST. MARY PARISH, La. – A 22-year-old Amelia man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct involving a juvenile.
According to authorities, Josue Ruiz-Rodriguez, 22, of Amelia, was taken into custody on February 2, 2026, at approximately 12:58 p.m. on charges of human trafficking and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
The investigation began on February 22, 2025, when deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista. The case was later assigned to detectives, who launched a broader investigation into Ruiz-Rodriguez.
As the investigation progressed, detectives determined that Ruiz-Rodriguez allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct with a juvenile. A forensic examination of his phone reportedly uncovered digital evidence, including explicit material involving juveniles.
Authorities obtained an initial warrant charging Ruiz-Rodriguez with:
Two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile
Four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles
Three counts of pornography involving juveniles
On March 18, detectives made contact with Ruiz-Rodriguez and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
The investigation continued as additional digital evidence was analyzed. Detectives later secured another warrant charging Ruiz-Rodriguez with computer-aided solicitation of a minor and human trafficking.
On February 2, 2026, a deputy made contact with Ruiz-Rodriguez and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the additional charges.
Bail has not been set at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
