Man Arrested After Attempted Escape During Iberia Parish Traffic Stop

IBERIA PARISH, La. — A traffic stop in Iberia Parish Tuesday evening resulted in the seizure of drugs, a firearm, and multiple charges against a local man.

On January 27, 2026, at approximately 6:10 p.m., deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office stopped a silver Nissan Altima in the area of Louisiana Highway 675 and U.S. Highway 90.

During the stop, deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, leading to the discovery of approximately 13.7 ounces of marijuana, 47 MDMA tablets, one whole alprazolam tablet, and five partial alprazolam tablets. Deputies also seized sandwich bags commonly used for narcotics packaging and a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun.

The driver, identified as Mactori Doucet, attempted to flee on foot but was captured after a brief foot pursuit.

Doucet was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, illegal possession of a firearm, resisting an officer, drug paraphernalia possession, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, illegal window tint, and a parole violation.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says it remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts aimed at keeping the parish safe.
