Baldwin man is celebrating a big win after claiming a $150,000 prize from the January 19 Powerball drawing.

Alvin Lucas matched four of the five white ball numbers plus the Powerball number. By purchasing the Power Play option for an additional $1, his winnings were tripled.
Lucas bought the winning ticket at One Stop Convenience, located at 310 Main Street. He claimed his prize at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation Lafayette regional office on Tuesday, January 20, and received $109,500 after state and federal tax withholdings.
Lucas says he plans to invest his winnings.

“Congratulations to Mr. Lucas and his family on this huge win,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “We’re always excited to see a Louisianan win big on this multistate game.”
The winning numbers for the January 19 drawing were 05, 28, 34, 37, 55, with the red Powerball number 17.

Lottery officials remind players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchase to protect their claim. Winning tickets for draw-style games must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing date.

Players must be at least 21 years old to participate in Powerball. Anyone experiencing gambling-related problems, or concerned about someone who may be, can call the Louisiana Problem Gamblers Helpline at 1-877-770-7867, available 24 hours a day.
