The Morgan City Police Department is investigating an early morning crash involving a motorcycle that claimed the life of a Morgan City man. On Monday, December 1, 2025, at approximately 7:17 am, Morgan City Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a Jeep and a motorcycle near the intersection of LA 70 and Victor II Boulevard.
Investigators determined that a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on LA 70 and attempted a left turn onto Victor II Boulevard under a flashing yellow arrow. At the same time, a 2001 Honda VTX motorcycle was traveling northbound toward the intersection and collided with the turning Jeep.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 42-year-old Gregory Free of Morgan City, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. A passenger on the motorcycle was ejected during the crash and sustained moderate to severe injuries. The passenger was transported to an out-of-area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Jeep Wrangler also suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an out-of-area hospital.
The Morgan City Police Department reports that the crash remains under active investigation.
