On Friday, November 28, at approximately 3:10 pm, St. Mary Fire District 11 was dispatched to a trailer fire with possible entrapment at 115 Jones Road #2 in Four Corners.
Units arrived on scene at 3:14 pm and found the residence heavily involved with fire and smoke. Family members informed firefighters that the occupant was last known to be in the rear bedroom.
Firefighters immediately began search and rescue operations. The victim was located unresponsive and removed from the structure with assistance from a neighbor. Fire District 11 personnel, along with St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies, administered life-saving measures, and the victim regained consciousness at the scene. Acadian Ambulance Service transported the victim to a local medical facility for further treatment.
More than 25 firefighters responded, with automatic and mutual aid provided by the Jeanerette, Baldwin, and Chitimacha fire departments. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted with scene security.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. Officials noted that the home did not have working smoke detectors at the time of the incident.
