BERWICK, La. — A Texas man was taken into custody Friday after Berwick Police obtained a warrant in connection with an alleged sexual assault reported earlier the same day, according to information provided by the Berwick Police Department.
Police say they were notified by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:48 a.m. on November 21, 2025, regarding a sexual assault complaint. Officers responded to the scene, where they learned the incident had reportedly occurred earlier that morning in the Berwick area.
Investigators from Berwick Police, working alongside deputies from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, began collecting evidence and interviewing those involved. Through their initial investigative efforts, authorities say they identified Marco Trevino Jr., 33, of Weslaco, Texas, as a suspect.
With additional assistance from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, officers made contact with Trevino. According to police, interviews were conducted and further evidence was obtained that investigators believe links him to the reported assault.
Following the investigation, a warrant was issued for Trevino’s arrest on a charge of Third-Degree Rape. Police state that Trevino was arrested without incident at the Berwick Police Department and booked on the warrant.
Authorities report that Trevino remains incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.
All charges are allegations, and individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
