Four local law enforcement agencies have announced that they are participating in a nationwide campaign to enforce seatbelt usage by motorists. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office as well as Berwick, Morgan City and Patterson Police Departments will have extra officers patrolling the roadways as part of the “Click-It or Ticket” campaign that will run from May 19 – June 1 to ensure motorists are buckling up their seatbelts.  Motorists who are pulled over for not wearing their seatbelts will receive a citation. The campaign coincides with the beginning of the busy summer driving season and the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

KQKI News correspondent Brady Borel spoke with St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell, Morgan City Police Chief Chad Adams and Berwick Police Department Lieutenant Quentin Menard during an exclusive interview on Wednesday as the law enforcement officials explained the campaign.  Patterson Police Chief Garret Grogan was unable to attend the interview.
