The National Weather Service in Lake Charles says there is a possibility of severe weather in portions of Louisiana on Saturday. Forecasters with the NWS say chances favor an episode of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and through the evening hours. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including the risk for strong tornadoes.
According to the forecast, the highest risk of severe weather as of Saturday morning is for areas of Central Louisiana. Meteorologists say the severe weather potential for today has increased with a Moderate Risk (level 4/5) covering parts of Louisiana. The tornado risk has also increased, with higher probabilities of significant tornadoes of EF-2 strength or stronger.
Isolated showers will begin early Saturday morning, with an increase in storm coverage expected late in the morning, lasting to the evening hours.
