Morgan City Police Department Warns Public of Scam

According to the Morgan City Police Department, On July 23, 2024, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a possible scam. During the investigation, it was learned that scammers are calling residence accusing victims of having outstanding warrants.

Scammers are requesting bank information along with personal information such as social security numbers. Scammers are also using unknown applications that can display local police department phone numbers when victims are contacted.

The Morgan City Police Department urges the public to please not give any caller such personal information and to contact the Morgan City Police Department if anyone believes they were victimized.
