Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet reported the apprehension of a Nebraska resident, Andrew Walton Moore, in relation to an ongoing inquiry led by the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) Detectives of the Sheriff’s Office. The 34-year-old faces two counts of first-degree rape in association with the investigation.
In May 2023, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division officers responded to a call in Gibson where they met with a parent of an 11-year-old victim. The parent revealed allegations of sexual abuse taking place over the last two years. During their initial probe, deputies identified Andrew Moore as the suspected offender and established that the incidents transpired at a residence within Terrebonne Parish, where Moore lived at that time. They also learned he was residing in North Platte, Nebraska.
As SVU detectives from Terrebonne took over the case, they obtained an arrest warrant for Moore, who was later detained by Nebraska authorities. The Warrants Division of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office carried out extradition procedures in Nebraska, and Moore was brought back to Terrebonne Parish on October 20th around 9:00 am. Subsequently, he was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $1,000,000 bond set by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet has confirmed that this remains an active investigation with no further information available presently. Additional details will be disclosed as they emerge.
