New Orleans, LA. – A 50-year-old man was medevaced by the Coast Guard from a vessel located 35 miles south of Grand Isle, Louisiana on Monday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call early morning around 4:58 a.m. from the vessel’s operating manager who requested help for a passenger suffering from chest pain.
To provide assistance, watchstanders coordinated the launch of an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans. The aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the man onto the helicopter, and transported him to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he was met by emergency medical services personnel.
The man is currently reported to be in stable condition.
