National Night Out in Morgan City Set for October 17

In just three weeks, Lawrence Park will host the 2023 National Night Out on Tuesday, October 17th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Organizers are preparing for a fun and engaging autumn evening that brings together the local community.

Numerous agencies and community organizations have committed to attending the event, including the Morgan City Police Department, Fire Department, Marshal’s Office, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, U.S. Coast Guard, St. Mary E-911, Chez Hope, 100 Black Men, and New Zorah Baptist Church.

The Fraternal Order of Police Atchafalaya Lodge #62 will offer free haircuts to children courtesy of Kings Barber Shop. The JROTC will cook up delicious burgers and hot dogs while also providing drinks.

Attendees can participate in various giveaways such as bike raffles and a fishing game for a chance to win a fishing pole with guidance from the Morgan City High School Fishing Team. In addition, the Morgan City Petting Zoo will entertain children with an assortment of friendly animals.

For those without kids or simply seeking entertainment, live music will be provided by South 70. The Morgan City Police Department expresses its gratitude to all sponsors – special thanks to Doric Lodge #87 in Morgan City for co-hosting the National Night Out Against Crime in 2023.
