In a recent statement, BNSF Railway confirmed that around 5 p.m. CST on Monday, a train collided with a semi-truck at the Airport Boulevard crossing in New Iberia, Louisiana. This incident led to the derailment of 20 rail cars and two locomotives carrying mixed freight. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the crew members.

BNSF stated that the railroad crossing was equipped with essential safety features such as gates, lights, and bells. Currently, the cause of the accident is under investigation.

As BNSF personnel collaborate with local law enforcement to address the situation and clear the scene, Highway 182 remains closed in both directions from the Iberia Parish line to Darby Lane. Additionally, the Highway 182 closure is ongoing from Hwy 674 (NW Bypass) to Highway 88. However, Highway 88 itself continues to stay open for traffic.
