The Berwick Police Department, led by Chief David Leonard Sr., will collaborate with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to participate in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The initiative will start on Friday, August 18, 2023, and continue until Monday, September 4, 2023. To reduce impaired driving incidents, Berwick officers will conduct saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints.

The public is encouraged to report erratic or dangerous driving by contacting the police. Additionally, motorists must move over when officers pull over traffic violators to ensure safety. Chief Leonard advises against driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or any impairing substances, urging everyone to plan ahead by designating a sober driver or arranging alternative transportation. Impaired driving is completely preventable.
