Potential Threat at Local School Found Not to be Credible

On Thursday, September 15, 2022, Officers with the Morgan City Police Department responded to the Morgan City High School regarding a potential threat. When officers arrived, school administration had already evacuated the school as a safety precaution. Within minutes, the threat was found not to be credible, and no criminal violations had occurred. Everyone returned back to class, and the issue is being handled internally by the St. Mary Parish School Board and Morgan City High School.
Interim Chief Mark E. Griffin Jr. and the Morgan City Police Department want to remind everyone that the safety of the children while in school is paramount. We are constantly working in a collaborative effort with every school in Morgan City along with the St. Mary Parish School Board to ensure the safety of all of our children.
