On Sunday, February 27, 2022, at approximately 5:38 pm, Berwick Police Department received a call of a reckless driver. Officers responded to the area and located the described vehicle.
A traffic stop was conducted, and officers made contact with the driver identified as 39-year-old Francine Templet. Also inside the vehicle were two small children at the time.
During the course of the stop Templet showed signs of impairment and field sobriety tests were conducted. Templet performed poorly on some portions of the tests and refused the others.
Templet was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department. Upon arrival at the Berwick Police Department, Templet reportedly began to resist officers.
Templet refused to submit a breath sample and a warrant was obtained for her blood. Blood samples were collected, and it was learned that she had been previously convicted of three prior DWI arrests in the recent years.
The blood samples were sent to the crime lab for toxicology screening, and she was booked on the charges of Driving While Intoxicated 4th Offense with Child Endangerment, Driving Under Suspension for Prior Driving While Intoxicated Charges, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting an Officer.
Templet made her first appearance in court on Wednesday morning. Her bond has been set at $79,500.
