33-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies in Jeanerette Crash Involving ATV

A 33-year-old man is dead after the bicycle he was riding Friday night was struck by an ATV.   On Friday, November 3, at approximately 9:07 pm, officers with the Jeanerette Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Avenue in reference to a crash involving a four wheeler and a bicycle.

After speaking to witnesses it was learned that the four wheeler reportedly struck the bicycle at a high rate of speed. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene and was identified as 37-year-old male, Raydell Williams. The driver of the ATV was identified as 37-year-old Trevor Olivier and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Routine toxicology tests were drawn from both individuals for investigative purposes.

Jeanerette Police Chief Dusty Vallot thanked the Louisiana State Police, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, St Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jeanerette Fire Department, Iberia Parish Fire District 1, St Mary Parish Fire District 11 and the Jeanerette Marshals Office for their assistance. Vallot asked for prayers for both families.
