Amiya Peveto, 17, of Patterson, Louisiana, was arrested on November 28, 2025, at 3:30 a.m. on an outstanding warrant for attempted second-degree murder, criminal trespassing, and possession of marijuana.

The investigation began on November 27, 2025, when a detective responded to a local medical facility regarding a reported stabbing that occurred on Cane Road in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the detective spoke with a victim who had sustained multiple laceration wounds.

Through interviews and evidence gathered at the scene, investigators learned that the suspect had gone to a residence where a confrontation took place between the suspect and the victim. During the incident, the victim received lacerations believed to have been caused by a knife.

As the investigation progressed, detectives identified Amiya Peveto as the suspect. A BOLO was issued to the Patterson Police Department, who later located the suspect’s vehicle. A deputy made contact with Peveto and detained her without incident.

Peveto was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has not been set at this time.

Sheriff Gary Driskell and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division extend their appreciation to the Patterson Police Department for their assistance with this case.
