On March 6th, Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division began an investigation when a Fully Automatic AR-15 Rifle was located at a local motel in the area of LA 182.

According to reports, Forrest William Sullivan was identified as the owner of the firearm. Sullivan had been incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center due to a prior arrest by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office since March 01, 2024.

Investigators were able to determine upon inspection of the firearm, that it had been modified, rendering the weapon fully automatic.

Reports indicate that investigators met with Mr. Sullivan at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Sullivan allegedly admitted to the AR-15 Rifle being his and that he modified the weapon which made the functionality of the firing mechanism to be fully automatic.

Research indicated that Mr. Sullivan was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being convicted of Domestic Violence Offenses. Warrants were prepared for Sullivan’s arrest.

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐧, 𝟐𝟗, of 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭. in 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐓𝐗, was charged with:

Possession of Machine Guns
Possession of a Firearm by Persons
Convicted of Domestic Violence

Sullivan was booked on the charges and remains incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he now awaits court proceedings.
