Sheriff Blaise Smith and the Investigations Division of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office announce the arrest of two more persons in connection to the attempted murder of a Bayou Vista woman in November 2021. . ?????? ??? ????, ??, of Lafayette, LA, was arrested on February 17, 2022, on the charges of principal to attempted first-degree murder, principal to second-degree kidnapping, and obstruction of justice. . ????????? ???????, ??, of Lafayette, LA, on February 17, 2022, on the charges of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, accessory after the fact to second-degree kidnapping. . Derrick Williams was arrested in December on the charge of attempted first-degree murder of a Bayou Vista woman in November 2021. . On November 21, at 12:29 am, deputies responded to a residence on Saturn Road in Bayou Vista after a 911 call of a subject that had been wounded. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a local woman who was wounded by a gunshot. . Detectives were brought in and through the investigation, Derrick Lee John Williams Jr., 20, of Lafayette, LA, was developed as the suspect. Detectives also learned that Williams took the 1-year-old toddler from the residence and fled the scene. A level II Endangered Missing Child Advisory was issued by the Louisiana State Police. . Sometime later, the toddler was found to be safe. . On Thursday, December 9, 2021, U.S. Marshals located Williams in New Iberia and arrested him on the SMPSO warrant for attempted 1st-degree murder. Williams was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and subsequently transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. . As the investigation into the incident progressed, warrants were obtained for the arrests of Cassandra Hopkins and Kaemon Bush for charges related to the incident. . Bush and Hopkins were located and arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, February 17, 2022, and were transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center. .
