The St. Mary Levee District has announced the Yokely Extension project is now operational. The project along with the Bayou Teche floodgate completes a protection loop from Wax Lake Outlet to Charenton Canal. Officials said the entire wall can be deployed in less than a day in preparation for a hurricane threatening the area.
