Woman Arrested for Refusing Cab Fare and Assaulting Officer in Labadieville

Labadieville, LA. – Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of 20-year-old Xaniyah Janae Black from Fairburn, Georgia, on felony charges following an incident on Thursday morning near Labadieville.

Officers were called to Cancienne Street after a taxi driver reported that a female passenger, who he picked up from the New Orleans Airport, refused to pay her fare. Upon locating the woman, deputies noticed her possessing and testing a taser. They instructed her to drop the weapon, which she eventually did before the situation escalated into a physical altercation. Black was finally arrested and taken to the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

She now faces charges of aggravated assault upon a peace officer, two counts of resisting an officer, and disturbing the peace. Xaniyah Janae Black is currently in custody, awaiting a bond hearing.
