Video: Coast Guard Rescues Two Boaters in Atchafalaya Bay

Thursday evening at approximately 9:00, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, along with the Eighth Coast Guard District and U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, conducted a rescue operation for a vessel that was on its side and taking on water in Atchafalaya Bay, near Point Au Fer Island.

Two individuals on board were able to make it to a safe location before being transported to Houma Terrebonne Airport, where they received medical attention from local emergency services.

Officials with U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans congratulated Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) Scott Pierce for achieving his first successful rescue mission on his first day of duty.
