TERREBONNE PARISH – A two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening claimed the life of a Chauvin man and left another driver seriously injured, according to Louisiana State Police Troop C.
Troopers say the crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on March 25, 2026, at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 56 and Josie Court.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling north on LA Highway 56 at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by 58-year-old Aljean Ledet of Chauvin, was also traveling north ahead of the Pontiac. For reasons still under investigation, the Pontiac failed to slow down and struck the rear of the Chevrolet.

Following the impact, the Chevrolet exited the roadway to the right and overturned.
Ledet, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Pontiac was also unrestrained, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to an out-of-area hospital for treatment.
Authorities say routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
