For the second time in just over a week, a 15-year-old juvenile male has been charged with stealing a vehicle and leading local police in a pursuit, this time resulting in two Morgan City Police officers being injured.  On Sunday morning at approximately 7:00 am, a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling in the the Siracusaville area and came in contact with a suspicious vehicle. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle,  the vehicle fled and led the deputy in a pursuit.   The pursuit continued into Morgan City where Morgan City Police officers joined the pursuit.  The juvenile driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of Grizzaffi and Chennault Streets where it struck a responding MCPD unit head-on. The two officers in the unit sustained minor injuries and were treated at Ochsner St. Mary hospital. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen. The suspect fled but was apprehended a short time later and was taken into custody. He remains in custody as of Sunday afternoon.

KQKI News has confirmed that it is the same juvenile that reportedly led Berwick Police Officers on a pursuit through a school zone near Berwick Elementary School on Thursday, August 21. The juvenile crashed the vehicle into a front yard and fled on foot. Within minutes, he was located and taken into custody.  During the course of the investigation, officers reportedly located a handgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen out of Abbeville.  The juvenile was charged with Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce, Aggravated Flight in a Vehicle, Improper Lane Usage, No Driver’s License, Stop Signs and Yield Signs, Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Vehicle), Hit & Run, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Prohibited Acts of Schedule I Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting an Officer.  The juvenile was then released pending court proceedings.
